Weight Loss Wednesday: I lost 28 pounds!

Height: 5'8 "
Start Weight: 190.4
Current weight: 162.0
Pounds lost: 28.4 goal weight is 145 (and counting).

How long does it take to lose weight? Was I ever missing since January 2013, so about 19 months.

Teachable moment: My grandmother died on New Year's Eve 2012, she was the only grandmother grew up and lost its hard .. I had a person yo-yo diets in the past have been as high as 202 pounds as low as 149 but when she died, I knew I had to get serious about my health and my weight. I wanted to be healthy for my future children and grandchildren - and I wanted my grandmother proud. I knew I had to make big changes in my life.

How did you do? Decided to go back to Weight Watchers. I came when I won a freshman in college and what we affectionately call the "Freshman 40". That was 12 years ago. WW knew worked lost about 40 pounds the first time. But I knew I had to change a lot of my thinking when I wanted it. For good work

One of the biggest changes I made was to re-learn what I know about the food and I think, to reward. When I was younger, I think, "Well, I'm going to count the points on the time and then when I lost all my weight, I can go back to eating what I want to go." You can imagine how it worked. I used to think, "I worked hard to lose X amount of these books, I deserve to go to the restaurant and what I want It's not fair to deny me .." Once again, you can guess how turned out. And then some more - I have everything I earned lost again.

This time it was different, I finally learned that I always pay attention to what I eat. For the rest of my life, I'm counting points / calories / parts when I stay at a healthy weight. It's just who I am. I'm addicted to food and the feelings that accompany it - First I have to recognize it and take action to keep my diet under control. Once I realized that it was just the way it always will be, that it was easier to adjust my lifestyle to accommodate this understanding.

I also finally realized that if I go to a restaurant, not the food that the reward or indulgence is the opportunity to spend time with friends / family not to cook with and not having to clean - this is the fun go part of food. I had to distract from the food. Growing up, I put much emphasis on the food, I have to constantly remind ourselves that food is food and fuel that is not happiness, confidence, or a shoulder to mourn. I'm not a dog; I'm not rewarded with food. Now I'm with a new book, a trip to my favorite makeup store, or rewarded a new pair of earrings.

What was the biggest challenge? How to overcome it? My biggest challenge was to re-learn to eat in a healthy manner concern. Honestly, WW meetings (board and staff) helped me to understand this. They were a group of people with the same things that I struggled with - WW meetings can support each other and comments and advice that really helps. Many of my mantras are things that others said in a WW meeting.

What was the one thing that has most helped along the way, especially when things For me, the weight loss is tough mentally. I know how healthy, point counts, movement, etc. eat the real challenge - if it is really difficult to trust my will, to get away from him (which is not much!) An unhealthy situation. Mantra I use when the going gets tough. When I go to a party and there are all kinds of food unhealthy comfort is still there, and everyone eats and encourage me to eat too much, I have to repeat again and again and again and again. "What you do, what holds' Me are remember that the consumption of unhealthy foods only even if it feels me from my goals, well in time.

What has changed since the weight loss your life? My confidence has soared. For I am sure that I will lose weight and have a healthy relationship with food, I feel like I can do anything!

Exercise routine: I run 3-4 times a week (10 to 20 miles in total), and attempts a kind of cross-training integrate 2-3 times a week, if I'm not active. Usually it is yoga or pilates DVD and Jillian Michaels. Sometimes it is swimming or cycling - it all depends on the time of year and my schedule depends. But no, I work 3 times a week.

Favorite Breakfast: Greek yogurt, cream cheese, and a piece of fruit.

Grave and Go favorite snack: 3 points WW bars, an apple, string cheese.

Favorite quick dinner: chicken and sauce in a crock pot - cook all day, serve over rice / couscous / quinoa at night.

The favorite fast food restaurant or healthy discovery: I like everything about everything in Panera - especially Fuji Apple Chicken soup salad and black beans.

Tips for someone just starting out: Do not be afraid to make your relationship with food not to investigate. Counseling is a good and honest thing that might be what makes the difference in your weight loss efforts.

Anything else you want to share: Do not be discouraged by the slow weight loss. I prefer to slowly lose his weight to win or stay the same.
