My thoughts on cycling and weight loss
My thoughts on cycling and weight loss 28th August 2014
In the last few years - since he came to Austin in 2010 - I've been struggling with weight loss. Look, we are all cyclists. Probably all together with thin, fit guys and a big guy, it's frustrating. Even now, in my best, I'm still going through "climber". What I found was to take this experience and use it as part of my motivation. It was a defining moment, but. Most of it came from a tour I did in Australia a few years ago ...
Surely this race was very difficult. Two days 100,120 miles with over 15,000 feet high from a day in the Australian summer. Bonk not, but it has to invite me forever, then I lay down to rest for 3-5 minutes. It's no big deal. Does it, however, a chance for Andy, a kind of comment like make "you have great long legs and lungs when you get in shape, you would be a strong runner."
From there, something was burning inside me and I'm not talking talking about a slice of hot pizza. I wanted to bring in a position demanding hikes and fitness equipment, the camera with me, or runs forward to enjoy a photo set. I wanted my game.
I started thinking about what I ate. Instead of the grill after a trip, I ate salads and lean protein. Instead of drinking beer, bourbon and went alone rather than solo at a comfortable pace, I started to push me.
More than two years passed before people began to see a noticeable difference in my fitness.
Here I am, in 2012, the racing bikes. Approximately 215 here probably weighed down 225th
2013 210th
Now in 2014 in the range 175-185, depending on what I drive, how often and the level of hydration. "The weight of the race" was 175, sitting on my ass driving a van of PCH and travel in the family for weighing 185 months to visit.
This is slowly total weight loss of more than four years. All the doctors I spoke, told me that this is the key. Weight loss has to come from a change in lifestyle, diet, exercise, and this should be done over time. If you fall, you will make your body more harm than good.
That said, here are the main changes I've made my lifestyle. Certainly should not try to go all here. Make small changes. Cut out your favorite food sucks. Instead, they treat as a reward. I like hamburgers? Reward yourself after a hard trip with a burger. Just do not continue to eat burgers every day!
And here we go. Healthy Diet. These are my normal meals:
Breakfast: half a cup of oatmeal-1 with blueberries, cinnamon roasted almonds and water. Simple. Or quinoa with a fried egg. Yellow and everything.
Lunch: I have two lunch after the race meal and meal of the day.
Ride - POST: Fish tacos (grilled) or a salad with fish on top.
Busy day, not a race: corn soup and fresh potatoes. Even canned soup is good, just look at the sodium.
Dinner: I like the shit on the greens. Bok choy, kale, spinach, chard. Sauteed, steamed, whatever. I ate a lot of vegetables every day. This is a fact. Market fresh fish, cooked in an oven. Sweet potatoes, pumpkin, brown rice, quinoa. It does not matter. If you like Whole Foods, look at the "Health Starts Here" and foods. Hell and tried to be a vegetarian.

Walk a lot, often. The rides, soft tracks are always better than 60 rounds. I'm on the bike goes in the morning for 20 miles, then mountain biking in the night sometimes for the same. Mix your horse. ATV-rule, and ends with his whole body. Give yourself time to recover. If your legs ache, a ride on the recovery. Do not go knocking.
You do not worry too much. You can literally get into trouble.
That is, to help long walks to weight loss for you. I always have one or two trips per month. Eating on the bike, but avoid Barsserie. Instead, opt for foods such as avocados, almonds, mango, almond butter, sweets etc are good on the bike, so enjoy it! Remember, if you eat foods high in cholesterol, you can not help your body.
Drinking.
Beer shit. Really. That's the worst. If you are trying to lose weight, stop drinking beer! It's hard, but that's like drinking dead calories. You might as well each night to eat a pizza.
Bourbon has less calories than any other alcohol. No additives and flavors, is a puree in a charred oak barrels and this is where it gets its flavor. Vodka is good too. Drink on the rocks or neat. Mixed with ginger ale or ginger beer is awful for you. Watch the amount of sugar in ginger ale!
If you are going to have beer to drink, drink beer shit "light".
Snacks. To buy almonds, salt is fine. They are perfect for you. Just do not eat a whole bag. I usually chop a handful when I hunger. Or eating a banana. If I died a little sweet, I drink literally Skratch thing.
Finally, the recovery! I used everything to do for recovery, except to try to eat within 30 minutes at the end of a round. Now, when I finish a round I drink a herbal mixture of proteins. It really helped me to build lean and healthy muscle.
Added normal protein, so much garbage in there, you feel bloated and swollen muscles always made me gas. This product is amazing. Vanilla is my favorite.

I know that many do not read as a guide to weight loss, it is rather an explanation of how I lost weight. You see, this is not easy, do not be fooled. There are many times I want to on pizza, or overeating gorge. You will be hungry a lot. It is difficult, but it really has to "reduce the stomach" and the appetite.
From training on the bike, you have to train yourself to eat well to be well. Yes, if you like breakfast tacos or pizza or burgers, but much less than me. Remember that this is a compromise.
I'm happy when I'm healthy and hydrated. It's like, there's a science club or something ...
