OSHAWA - Yvonne Ringler turns heads when she walks through a cafe in downtown Oshawa.

On the scale anywhere from 220 to 230 pounds over the years, and had "tried everything", including herbal remedies and diet pills. They received approval for a gastric bypass surgery, but withdrew, knowing that surgery could have complications. "I've decided I would forever be overweight."

But one day he was injured his knee problems and mobility, led by his turning point. "I realized how much I had to let me go."

She began looking for a gym, and appeared in Optymal Health Whitby Studios in April 2013 to begin their journey in lasting change was initiated with a test installation of two months to life. In the first three to four months, paid £ 60, recognized his emotional attachment to food, learned to change their eating habits and started with a personal trainer.

"I was totally excited and motivated," he recalls of those early days.

"I have a lot of issues from the past would not have tried to come," he said, referring to the sexual abuse and two counts of rape. The additional weight of "was a way to avoid attention."

In only nine months, she lost 100 pounds. "For me, on the stage, I only won because I was there," said Ringler sense of accomplishment I had. "It was the first time in my life I wore a bikini."

Competition in Mississauga theaters on July 19 in front of hundreds of people, Ms. Ringler said he did not expect to win, but the first place. "I even found a little, I'm not used to the heels," she laughs. She takes a video of his moment of triumph on his cell phone.

"I do not quite know my self-esteem," he says soberly. But getting fit and healthy "gave me a sense of self. It looks good, but I never had the feeling that I worth something. Future projects include another fitness competition next spring, getting a personal trainer come and tell their own fitness story with the existing curriculum students. "I am so excited to learn and physical health as a healthy person," she said.
